I was watching the Mavericks-Suns game when this came on. I don’t want to give away the substance of the ad itself, but it was wildly appropriate given my cliched sentiment regarding what’s missing in NBA basketball these days. The idea that repetition, imitation and perhaps tribute are all that he left behind for the players and the game is exactly the sort of painfully wistful tripe that resonates strongly with my aesthetic sensibilities.
