South Indian restaurants in the Bay Area
Published March 13th, 2005 in StumpThe three juggernauts are Saravana Bhavan, Dasa Prakash, and Komala Vilas. Actually, KV really isn’t in the same category as the first two, I just have an affection for its authentic Tamil ghetto-fab style - you gotta love a place where you sit at fold out tables next to shelves full of old computer parts and a ping pong table.
Dasa Prakash used to hold the crown, but IMO, Saravana Bhavan has taken the lead in recent months. I guess everyone else must have already figured this out, since Dasa Prakash seems pretty deserted these days.
